The Central Alabama Model A Ford Club first met in October 1999 and formally organized in January 2000. A charter to become a chapter of the national Model A Ford Club of America (MAFCA) was requested and was received in May 2000, the club later also became a chapter of the Model A Restorers Club (MARC).
